1) Seagull’s route: Puerto Montt, Calbuco, Puluqui island.

Puerto Montt is the capital city of the Lakes Region in the south of Chile. In this nice city, founded in 1853 by German settlers, near the Calbuco volcano, with panoramic view of the Osorno volcano and bordered by Reloncavi Bay, you will find one of the most beautiful landscapes in this region, supplemented by a mix of German and Chiloé cultures. You can also be sure you will enjoy the best seafood and fish our country has to offer while visiting the traditional sector called Angelmó. You will also take a trip to visit the town square, the cathedral built in 1852, and others sites with similar features.

The next day, you will move by the coastal route to Calbuco, which in mapudungún (mapuche people’s language) means “city of blue waters”. This small city was founded in 1602 and actually is the capital of Archipelago which contains 14 islands. That's why its inhabitants are strongly influenced by the Chiloé culture. It is well known for its fishing pier and traditional market. Because of its antiquity, it contains a wealth of history and heritage, such as San Miguel Parish and elements of pre-Hispanic and Hispanic presence in the Municipal Museum.

Later, you will sail waters of Archipelago of Calbuco 30 minutes to reach Puluqui Island. It will be an ideal time to capture the beauty of the area by photography as well as watch the typical animals of this region roam about their native habitat. Upon arrival, you will stay in a rural hostel, which offers typical dishes like “curanto al hoyo”, barbecue, chicken casserole, among others, while enjoying a homely atmosphere. Here, you will take many adventures and take part in various activities typical of our area.

2) Fisherman’s route: Puerto Montt, Calbuco, Helvecia island, Huar island.

We will arrive at Helvecia, a small island located 15 minutes by boat off the coast of Calbuco. This place has a special mystique, as it hosts a spectacular forest of myrtle with its more than thousand years becomes the oldest in South America. Here, we will make various activities typical of our area, such as shellfish, fishing cloth, visit vegetable gardens, visit to a beautiful lagoon with black-necked swans and animal husbandry tasks.

Choose this route because it offers the best of our islands, with their traditions and virgin forests.

3) Larch’s route: Puerto Montt, Andean Larch National park (Chaicas), Lenca, Andean Larch National park (Sargazo).

Continuing our tour, we travel to ancient Andean Larch Park for its south entrance of Chaicas. This beautiful site, located south of Lake Chapo in a mountainous area, has an evergreen forest, and various types of native trees as coihue. But undoubtedly the main attraction is the Larch that captivates with its lush beauty, height and age. Moreover, within the park we will arrive at Chaica falls, Chaiquenes lagoon and Triangle lagoon, allowing us a magical panoramic view provided by the nature of southern Chile, ideal for photography.

Lenca is located in the famous Carretera Austral, along Reloncaví within the southeast of Puerto Montt. In this town we are staying in a cozy rural hostel, near large rocks and overlooking the Andes. Here we can see all the beauty of southern Chile with its virgin forests and a great panoramic ocean views.

Finally, we will go back to the Andean Larch Park, but this time on the north side, or Sargazo sector entry. Here we find the possibility to take pictures, watch birds and native insects and appreciate the beautiful Sargazo lagoon after about an hour of trekking. Then there is the millennial Larch, as its name implies, is an unique and ancient in our area.

Come and experience the mystique of the start of the Austral Highway next to the Reloncaví bay and most untouched nature of Andean Larch National Park.

4) Settler’s route: Puerto Montt, Puerto Varas, Llanquihue, Frutillar, Puerto Octay, Cascada, Ensenada.

Llanquihue is the third largest freshwater lake in South America. It offers a privileged view of the Osorno volcano and several cities on its banks are established and known for its architecture and German traditions. Walk around their environment and discover its charms, supplemented by Germanic heritage is perceived at each moment in each of the cities that were founded or influenced by the culture of the settlers. 5) Kuchen’s route: Puerto Montt, Ensenada, Petrohué falls, All Saints Lake, Paso los Pumas trekking.

The next day we travel to Ensenada, a small town located on the shores of Lake Llanquihue. Here we get a beautiful and unique view of the natural geographical environment, which was made by continuous geological phases own of our planet, which eventually set up a landscape that blends the Andes mountain, lakes, rivers and forests.

Continuing the trip, we will go to Petrohué falls. This beautiful turquoise river known for the strength of its flow, accused of being one of the fastest in the world. Here we will appreciate a beautiful natural spectacle that combines the Osorno volcano, nice forests and the aforementioned river.

Finally, we will know the lake All Saints Lake, which is named after the Jesuit priests who discovered it in the seventeenth century, while trying to find a new route that linked Chile with Argentina. This lake of pure water and green represents the classic landscape of the Lake District. We will enjoy various activities such as fishing and an amazing trek to the Paso los Pumas.

6) Trauco’s route: Chiloé island: Puerto Montt, Ancud, Caulín huilliche community, Puñihuil penguins, Chepu, Castro, Quento.

Rich with history and beauty, it offers one of the more breathtaking landscapes of this zone, supplemented by a mix of german and Chiloé cultures. Visiting the town square will give us a chance to see the cathedral, built in 1852, and other similar historically significant landmarks. Also of interest is the traditional sector called Angelmó which provides the best seafood and fish of our country.

Chiloé is an archipelago located 80 km southwest of Puerto Montt, separated from the mainland by the Chacao Channel. Visiting Chiloe becomes a must for a travel iteinerary. Not only are they beautiful islands, but they are also known for traditions and mystical legends that are completely unique in all of Chile.

Once on Chiloe, we will visit Ancud, a city characterized by its war forts. These forts are heritage from the Spanish conquest, and served as a defense against the Dutch and English pirates who attacked the area continuously during the colonial era. Later, we will take some time to visit the huilliche community Ancud Chilwa Wuapi Mapu" of Caulin, a group of people trying to preserve and show the native customs of the huilliche people.

We will continue to Puñihuil Penguin, unique to the world for the mixed reproductive process of the Magellanic Penguin and Humboldt Penguin. Visit to the islands where these species nest every year must be done via boat. This location is perfect for photographing the various typical birds.

Continuing on the tour, we arrive at Chepu; a town that sits on the banks of the river of the same name and next to the Pacific Ocean. There, we will enjoy a trek through native forest which is initiated by a special train (called "maderocarril"). This is also an ideal area for photography, as there are excellent vistas of the ocean, river, flora and Chiloe National Park. Activities in this area include horseback riding and possibly fishing in the calm waters of Chepu, where you can find species such as salmon.

Castro; the capital of the province of Chiloé, is a city located in the center of the island. Castro is noted most for its architecture: its church, built in 1567, represents the classic architectural style of Chiloé, as well as the typical stilt houses unique to this island that reflect the whole culture of a people closely linked to the sea.

Finally, we will sail for nearly 20 minutes to reach Rilán Peninsula, specifically Quento town, taking a nice sail around the beach. We will have time to stroll along the beach to photograph the beautiful scenery. Next, consider a visit to the “Coñico Farm”, an area close to Quento beach: This farm specializes in dairy, and there is also the posibility to feed the calves milk, provide food for rabbits and birds. A good conclusion to this trip would be with sampling food produced by the farm, like cheese, eggs, and milk. At night, we will stay in the rural hostel of Quento. The next day, activities such as collecting shellfish (typical of the area) and kayaking, to finally enjoy a traditional lunch of Chiloé.

7) Lumberjack’s route: Puerto Montt, Cochamó, Río Puelo.

This tour takes us to the mountainous town of Cochamó, located 116 kms from Puerto Montt. In this tranquil town you can enjoy beautiful nature walks from horseback, as well as birdwatching in the Reloncaví Estuary and off the cliffs of the mountains. This peaceful town is remarkable for the warmth and kindness of its people.

We will continue the journey south to Rio Puelo. The town of Rio Puelo is located on the banks of the river of the same name, and is renown for being a haven for fishing, hiking, climbing and photography. We will enjoy a pristine view of Yates volcano and a paradisaical natural environment.

8) Puma’s route: Puerto Montt, Ensenada, Petrohué falls, All Saints Lake, Hot springs of Callao trekking., el Cenizo Mountain trekking.

The second day of the tour we will travel to Ensenada, a small town located on the shores of Lake Llanquihue. This area provides a beautiful and unique view of the differing geographical phases that effected the shaping of the landscape throughout the eons. Eventually, the gradual blending of the Andes mountain, lakes, rivers and forests combined to make this idyllic and stunning view.

Continuing on the trip, we will then go on to Petrohué falls. This turquoise river is known for the strength of its current, said to be one of the fastest in the world. Here we will appreciate a beautiful natural spectacle that combines the Osorno volcano, nice forests and the aforementioned river.

Later, we will visit the lovely All Saints Lake, which is named after the Jesuit priests who discovered it in the seventeenth century while trying to find a new route that linked Chile with Argentina. This lake of crystaline green water represents the classic landscape of the Lake District.

The next day, we will begin a relaxing hike to the hot springs of Callao, after transfer by boat across the lake to the port "El Rincón". Through the Valdiviana forest, we will arrive at a rural hostel in Termas of Callao. This hostel offers the best its owners can provide; rest, homemade food, and the opportunity to luxuriate in hot springs that emerge from the ground.

Finally, we will take a mild hike to the El Cenizo mountain, enjoying the spectacular landscape, given its peace and purity.

We return along a route that descends to All Saints Lake, having the chance to see the volcano Puntiagudo in all its magnificent glory, as well as visiting flora and bird watching sites along the way.
