Alternatur has
its headquarters
in the
city of Puerto Montt,
the capital of
the province of Llanquihue in
the Los
Lagos Region,
Chile. It
has 175,847
inhabitants (2002) and
an area of
1,673 km ². The National
Statistics Institute
has estimated that by 2010
the city would have
grown to approximately 236,000 inhabitants.
It has undergone an
explosive growth
in the last 25
years due
to the production of
salmon, which
has placed Chile
as the
second largest producer after Norway.
As a result of
this, Puerto
Montt has hosted several
people from all over Chile and the continent.

In terms
of geographical
location, we
are located in front of the Seno de Reloncaví
and there is a sheltered
bay on
the
west side by
the Tenglo Island.
It is the main route
to the southern regions of Aysen
and Magallanes. Due
to its strategic
location, this city
is the starting
point for the
shift to the
Chilean Patagonia. It
also has an
international airport (AFB Tepual),
the second largest
in the country,
with all of the major air
terminals of Chile.
